CCOB Dedicates Blessing Box, May 7, 2017

The following is Pastor Kevin’s dedication text.

It was a magazine article about a blessing box that set this project in motion. The article was shared with the Community Passion Group, the article sparked interest, interest developed into conversation, conversation developed into action, and we gather here today with the result of that action standing in front of us — a blessing box.

The objective of the box is to provide items for people unable to secure these things in a traditional manner. A family may have nothing in their house to eat over a weekend. A jar of peanut butter may not sound like anything great, but to a hungry family it may be a Godsend. A person who has just been evicted from their house or apartment and living on the streets may welcome a tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush in a manner beyond our imagination.
We offer these items in good faith and for the good of our neighbors, and with absolutely no requirement for anything in return.
So today we seek God’s blessing upon this way of service and dedicate this box for the glory of God and the good of our neighbor.
Thank you to the Community Passion Group and all others who enabled this to happen!
Items for the box can be left at CCOB by anyone with items to donate. Please, leave items in northeast corner room in the basement and record the items for tracking.
