This Sunday June 11: “The Paradox of the Cross”

As we face troubled times, our present crisis provides an opportunity to revisit our identity. Who are we and what is this thing we call church? Paul’s response to this question can be characterized as The paradox of the cross; a different way to live, one that turns society on its head.  Are we passionate about building a present-day kingdom that both Paul and Jesus envisioned? Or we as a church conscious of the biggest problems facing the world? And what do we do with this tension when those in power do not work to build a peaceful and just kingdom?

Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11-13
