The following post was taken from the Canton Chronicle, Vol 2017 #5.
Canned music is great in the car, a local restaurant, or an elevator in a tall building, but it can’t hold a candle to the richness of the human factor in a service of worship. We have enjoyed the wonderful tradition of musical talent among us—organists, pianists, guitarists, vocalists, and more. Much of this talent is shared with us on a volunteer basis by those from within or significantly connected to our congregation.
To continue providing a rich tradition of music, and moving beyond a volunteer base, will require compensating those who share their musical talents with and for us. Therefore, the Leadership Team of the Canton Church of the Brethren agreed to create a new Music Fund to ensure that we have the ability to fairly compensate gifted musicians we invite to help us carry on our musical legacy. The Music Fund . . .
- will be created immediately
- is set to achieve a balance of $750.00 by the end of August, 2017.
- will strive to maintain a minimum balance of no less than $500.00.
- will be used to compensate musicians we call and invite to provide musical richness for and with us.
DO YOU WANT TO HELP REACH THE GOAL OF $750.00 BY AUGUST 31?

Yes! Great! Here’s how you can help:
