Christmas Cantata: A Service of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love

Trinity Lutheran Church and the Canton Church of the Brethren are celebrating Christian unity with a joint worship service and Christmas cantata on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 9:00am! The blended service will feature worship traditions from both Lutheran and Brethren perspectives, along with the celebration of Holy Communion. A fellowship and discussion time follows the service, and coffee and cookies will be served.

Jean Koster Sprecher and Carol McCutcheon Davis are directing the combined choirs of both congregations in “Carols and Candles: A Service of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love,” with music and orchestration by Mark Hayes and narration and new lyrics by Pamela Martin. The choirs are accompanied Pam Willison at the piano, Tony Roberts on harp, Tammy Weaver on clarinet, and Jennifer Freeman Kees on flute. Martha Harr and Danny Driskell serve as narrators.

“As in the past, we are looking forward to bringing our two congregations together during the Advent season,” said Brethren Pastor Kevin Kessler. “Our two churches are located directly across the street from one another and our congregations have enjoyed many common bonds throughout the years.”

“We invite friends, family, and community members to join us for this special worship on December 10th,” said Trinity Pastor Micah Garnett. “The elements of the service, the beautiful music, and being together demonstrate how the birth of Christ unites us in hope, peace, joy and love.”
