The following post is a Mission Moment prepared by Martha Harr for our service on July 1, 2018.
Do you ever get tired of turning on the news to hear about all of the bad things that are going on in the world? Sometimes, it would just be nice to tune in and find that EVERY SINGLE NEWS STORY for the day was focused on only happy, good things that are happening!
Today, I would like us to turn our attention to something GOOD that is going on in our Brethren denomination AND how we can each help ensure it continues. That Brethren treasure we call Camp Emmanuel.
Camp Emmanuel is a Christian campground located just outside of Astoria, in the
Illinois/Wisconsin District. Their mission is to share God’s message and love with children and adults of all ages through the beauty and wonder found in nature. Campers are able to study about God and his workings firsthand, right in the middle of his creation. Although time is spent in study and worship, plenty of time each day remains for play, recreation, hiking, music, adventure, and swimming. Attendees always have a wonderful time and are anxious to return the following year.
Camp Emmanuel is the focus of our special offering, June through July. We don’t want to take a chance that we lose this opportunity offered by our denomination because of a lack of funding to support the cost of upkeep of the camp. Please, consider Camp Emmanuel when you are determining the recipients of your special offering gifts. Envelopes for this offering can be found in the pew holders.
LAMENTATIONS 3:22-33
For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show
compassion.
